An article in The Washington Post yesterday - “Avoidance, Not Anxiety, May Be Sabotaging Your Life” by Luanna Marques, PhD - discusses ways we often avoid uncomfortable emotions and situations and offers steps to take to shift this unconscious behavior - which is exactly what we do on the mat!

For me, it’s exciting to read about modern psychology “validating” what we practice, in a sense. I invite you to read it (if you’re not a subscriber The Washington Post, you do get at least one free article per month before the site puts a pay-wall). Consider how your own life or behavior are reflected in the article and how we use our on-the-mat practice to get comfortable with discomfort.

Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences in the comments!
