Extreme states of fear, anger, and grief have a profound impact on the nervous system and body. Chronic, milder forms of these emotions, like anxiety or stress, also have detrimental physical effects. Your emotions may be all over the place, or you may feel disconnected from yourself or your loved ones - like you can never quite relate.

Medication is often used to control physical symptoms and talk therapy helps us understand the thought processes involved - but the way the nervous system holds onto the experience often goes unaddressed.

We can’t think or talk our way out of trauma, anxiety, and stress. The good news is, the body knows how to heal itself! We just need to help the mind get out of the way.

Addressing the fight-or-flight nervous system is the key to relieving the body of on-going stress-reactions.

With Somatic Trauma Resolution, we tap into the body’s innate mechanisms to soothe a dysregulated nervous system. Sessions include body-focused (somatic) practices like breath-work, qigong, theraputic tremoring techniques, yoga-based practices, and mindfulness meditations.

I use this work myself to regulate my own PTSD symptoms and reactions. When I do them regularly, I feel more present in my life, less reactive to daily stressors, and I sleep so much better!

 
 

Somatic Trauma Resolution is not a one-and-done “magic pill”: we live in a world that is continually stressful and re-traumatizing, so the nervous system needs to be “unwound” regularly.
