When we hear “strong core”, we usually think of 6-pack abs that really pop!
However, functional core strength - the kind that truly relieves chronic tension and pain in neck, shoulders, low back, and hips - means rebalancing the habitual ways in which our bodies have learned to move.
Core Yoga:
Improves posture and spinal support by releasing the deep hip flexors (psoas) and strengthening weak back muscles, the deep abs (TVA), and other functional core supporting muscles
Releases overworked, achy, tension-holding muscles in the shoulders, hips, and low back
Promotes full-body integration, strengthens slow-twitch muscles fibers, and awakens awareness in parts of our bodies that have become disconnected
You’ll discover muscles you never knew you had and leave feeling calmer, stronger, and more connected!
PROPS NEEDED: yoga mat, yoga strap, 2 yoga blocks, and a yoga blanket or large towel (if you’re missing any of these items, please let me know when you show up to class!)
RECORDINGS: These classes are recorded for Tapas Members. Only the teacher’s screen is recorded. If you unmute to ask a question, the audio will be in the recording, but your video will not.

Root yourself in your body!
A slower-paced, hatha-style practice with emphasis on floor-work: seated and reclined stretches, core work, grounded strengthening poses, and yin yoga (deep release stretches).
The focus of each class depends on the requests I get at the beginning of each class, so bring your tired shoulders and aching back and ask for what you need!

Moderate-intensity, stretchy vinyasa flow to work out the stress of the week, connect to your body, and work up a little sweat.
Each class winds down with techniques to activate the body’s innate Therapeutic Tremoring Mechanism - shaking! - which down-regulates the autonomic nervous system, shifting us out of fight-or-flight (stress, anxiety) and into rest-and-digest (relaxation, calm).
PROPS NEEDED: yoga mat, yoga strap, 2 yoga blocks, and a yoga blanket or large towel (if you’re missing any of these items, please let me know when you show up to class!)

Yoga is a wonderful way to relieve the aches and discomforts of pregnancy, prepare your body for labor, and develop the strength and posture-awareness you’ll need for baby-carrying and breast-feeding!
However, your practice needs to shift during pregnancy - even seasoned yogis have to adjust to meet their changing body’s needs! Your center of gravity shifts, the body experiences new aches and pains, and pregnancy hormones create hyperflexibility that can easily result in torn ligaments and tendons. Prenatal yoga addresses the ever-changing experience of pregnancy and provides modifications and insight to practice safely.

An intentional blend of yoga, qigong, tai chi, pranayama, acupressure, therapeutic tremoring, and meditation. The focus of each class and practices used varies week by week with the intention of aligning energy centers (chakras) and moving qi to create inner balance, optimize well-being, and integrate body, mind, and spirit.
You’ll learn about your energy systems, move your body, connect to your breath, and leave feeling centered and alive!

Qi is the energy or life force that flows throughout the body; qi that’s depleted, stagnant, or excessive impacts every aspect of our well-being, including digestion, menstruation, organ health, mental health and clarity, emotional state, and even the function of the musculoskeletal system. Lifestyle, diet, emotional dysregulation, and season changes all contribute to these imbalances of the qi. Qigong (“moving qi”) optimizes overall health and emotional balance while calming the nervous system.
In this class, we use standing qigong practices, medical qigong, tai chi, self-acupressure, qi/energy awareness exercises, and breath work. We may work seated or standing depending on what we’re addressing that day.
You’ll leave feeling calm, refreshed, and more present - and equipped with techniques to continue your healing work on your own.

While meditation is a deeply centering, anxiety reducing skill, it takes persistence and regular practice to get to a place where it’s easy to just sit and drop in - it can be daunting when you first try to get into it!
In this class, we'll explore different styles of meditating so you can learn which techniques work for you. Each class will include brief discussion and a guided 10- to 15-minute meditation.

Put on some relaxing music, light some candles, roll out your mat - I'll take care of the rest! (A hot bath and tea afterwards is highly recommended...)
